“QuickBooks cannot find the account at your bank”
Error 324 means QuickBooks looked for the account it had on record and the bank no longer offers one with those details. Nine times out of ten nothing happened to your money — the identifier changed underneath a connection that was set up months ago.
Symptoms
Bank feed updates stop with Error 324 while online banking works normally The problem started after a card was reissued or the bank was acquired One account fails while others at the same bank keep updating
What actually causes it
The account number changed
Reissued cards, upgraded account products and closed-and-reopened accounts all get new identifiers. QuickBooks stores the old one and asks for an account the bank can no longer match.
The bank merged or rebranded
Mergers change the institution identifier as well as the account number, so a connection that pointed at the old bank finds nothing at the new one.
The account was closed or hidden from online access
Accounts removed from online banking, or excluded from the download options, are invisible to the feed even though they still exist in your books.
How to fix it
- Download a statement file manually from the bank and drop it into the fixer below — this confirms which account details the bank is now sending.
- Compare the identifier in the file against what QuickBooks has for that account.
- Disconnect the account from bank feeds and reconnect it, so QuickBooks records the current identifier.
- Import the manually downloaded file to fill the gap left while the feed was broken.
