“The last few days are missing from my download”
A download that ends before yesterday is usually complete and correct — it simply does not contain what you are looking for, because those transactions have not finished happening yet.
Symptoms
The export stops two or three days before today Transactions visible on the bank website are absent from the file Re-downloading changes nothing
What actually causes it
Pending transactions are not exported
A card payment is authorised immediately but posts later, sometimes with a different amount. Exports contain posted transactions only, which is deliberate — an exported pending entry would need correcting once it settled.
The date range excluded them
Ranges are often interpreted as whole completed days, so "to today" can mean "to the end of yesterday".
The file is genuinely truncated
A download cut off mid-transfer also ends early, but for a different reason — and that one is visible in the file structure.
How to fix it
- Drop the file into the fixer below: it reports the transaction count and whether the file is structurally complete, which separates "pending" from "truncated" immediately.
- If the file is complete, wait for the transactions to post — typically one to three business days — and download again.
- If it reports truncation, re-download; that is a transfer problem rather than a banking one.
- For reconciliation, work to the statement period rather than to today, so pending activity never enters the comparison.
