“My bank only gives PDF statements”

A PDF statement is a picture of your transactions, not the transactions themselves. No import fixer can help, because there is no structured data inside to repair — which is why this page is about finding the export you actually need rather than converting the one you have.

What actually causes it

Cause 1

The export exists but is not on the statements page

Machine-readable exports are frequently placed under the transaction list rather than the statements archive — look for a small download icon above the transaction table, or a "download transactions" link inside the account view rather than the documents section.

Cause 2

The export is limited by date range

Some banks only offer CSV/OFX for recent activity, with older periods available as PDF only. Narrowing the date range often reveals the option.

Cause 3

The bank genuinely does not provide one

Smaller institutions sometimes offer nothing but PDF. In that case the honest answer is that conversion will always be an approximation requiring review, not an import.

How to fix it

  1. Look for the export inside the transaction list rather than the statements archive, and try a shorter date range.
  2. Check whether the bank offers a "Quicken", "QuickBooks" or "Money" download option — those labels are OFX/QFX/QBO under different names.
  3. If you find any of those, drop the downloaded file into the fixer below to confirm it is sound before importing.
  4. If there is genuinely no export, treat any PDF conversion as data entry to be checked line by line — and consider asking the bank, since these requests do influence what gets built.
